My husband and I went to Orlando on our honeymoon to do the Disney thing, and one day I booked us in to a character lunch with the Winnie the Pooh gang at the Magic Kingdom’s Crystal Palace. For those who don’t speak Disneyese, a character meal is one in which you dine amongst your favourite Disney characters. It’s quite the experience to shovel heaping forkfuls of cheese-covered Southern staples into your face while Pooh and the rest of the Hundred Acre Wood crew mill about, their kind, plush countenances gently questioning whether you really need that fourth plate of mac and cheese (which of course you don’t, but you’re going to eat it anyways!) The Disney dining reservation system (yes, that’s a real thing, and yes, for a character meal you will absolutely need to make advance reservations) does an excellent job of staggering the dining times at any given restaurant offering such an experience, presumably so the facility and staff aren’t swamped at peak times (or all the times), but also because it gives each table an opportunity to really interact with the characters, which leads to fun moments like this one:
Yeah, that’s my husband tonguing a plush tiger in broad daylight. The people the next table over were only moderately alarmed. As for Tigger? I don’t think he even noticed, so intent was he on rounding the table and maybe sort of humping my leg while my new husband took this photo? Bold move indeed, Tigger!
With those fun memories dancing around my head, and faced with day two’s theme of orange in the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge (and, of course, my self-imposed sub-theme of all Disney manis all the time), I decided there was only one way to go, and came up with this manicure celebrating everyone’s favourite hyperactive cartoon tiger. It’s Tigger time!
