Hello friends, happiest of New Years to you all! But where the bloody heck have I been? I don’t write, I don’t call…you’d be correct in wondering where the love is. Well, it was down in Orlando, Florida, where Mr. Finger Candy and I spent Christmas as guests of the House of Mouse. I have a ton of fun tales to share with you, but first I thought I ought to put a final bow on 2017, or the year I barely nail art’d on this nail art blog. But I suppose my brain and body were occupied with other things last year, like enjoying long-planned bucket list vacations and, you know, shedding nearly 80 pounds.
But I have made a promise to myself (don’t call it a resolution) that I will nail art better in the new year. Also grammar gooder. Until then, let’s take a peek at some of my favourites of 2017.
Your Face is Good, I’m a Soos! – a lacquered ode to Gravity Falls’ sweet doofus handyman, Soos.
Marvelous Mermaid – this was some next level glitter placement!
FingerCandy.ca, eh? – a new-ish domain name change seemed to require some special occasion nails.
The Nightclub at the Edge of the Universe – my high school and university stomping grounds closed up shop this year. As always, so long and thanks for all the fish, Zaphod’s.
Hello Cuteness! – I had planned to make my way through all of the designs in this cool Hello Kitty nail art book, but I sadly managed just two. I think I kicked things off with a bang, though, with this adorable classic Kitty design.
Disco Butterflies – shine on, you crazy, glittery disco butterflies!
Fireworks on 4th – although in hindsight, and having seen a great number of them over the past week, this manicure actually depicts a laser light show. Details, details!
Tim Hortons – love the nail art, maybe ever so less enamored with the coffee itself.
Literary Inspiration: Duma Key – Stephen King goes to the beach. Horrors predictably follow.
Death Note – I may have been the only person who enjoyed this Netflix movie, but I thought it was a total hoot.
These are all so great! I’m partial to the Hello Kitty one. ❤ But the Tim Hortons one made me laugh! 😆 I'm a fan of their dark roast! And I downloaded their app recently – super handy and every 4th coffee is free!
Happy New Year to you! Can't wait to see your Florida adventures. 🙂
Thank you! When I was at Epcot in the Canada pavillion, I looked for the usual cans of Timmies, but there was none! That seems like a massive Canadian oversight, does it not? 😉 Happiest of New Years to you, too, looking forward to more blogging fun in 2018.
What a beautiful year you’ve had!!! I am so happy for you Sandra! You are kicking butt and taking names. I love the mermaid mani and I really truly need to watch Gravity Falls. I bet I would love it. And are you possibly referring to the awesomeness that is the Epcot Illuminations show?!?! It was freezing the night we went as a family but I was determined to stay for the laser show and it was well worth the shivering bones and cold parched lips.
Thanks, Julie, it was my try-real-hard year. I really hope I can continue my forward momentum in 2018, because it felt pretty good in 2017. 🙂 Thanks for following along with my ups and downs.
And I actually wasn’t talking about Epcot, because I – shh, tell no one, except the people who saw it all on Facebook – got a little squiffy on margaritas and didn’t make it to Illuminations! And by a little squiffy I mean just this side of tipsy, but two margaritas plus 12 hours in the Florida sun equals an early bedtime (early being midnight, because we still didn’t get out of there until 10 pm.) I have seen Illuminations in the past, though, and it is spectacular. But I was talking more about the Star Wars light and projection and firework show at Hollywood Studios. Holy crow, it was incredible – just stuff going off EVERYWHERE, it was bonkers. Loved it so much – extra heavy on the lasers, that one. 😉
Ooh, slide show, how fancy! Now I’m expecting continuous shows because as soon as you finish one, another slightly related one inevitably pops up; possibly, the 10 worst nail art posts? And on and on into perpetuity, one can’t ever finish internet slide-showing.
Yay, I think I concur with your Top 10, I’ll have to check my notes;) Definitely stoked to see Duma Key, perfect impressionistic beachiness, Finger Candy logo=brilliant, and you are right, you can’t get much better than that classic Kitty. Death note, we actually own a copy of the graphic novel at the library and we only own like 15 graphic teen novels total. When I spy it on the shelf, I think, hah! Sandra made you nail art.
Can’t wait to see what shiny new art 2018 will bring, especially literary inspiration <3<3
Also, just wanna say thank you for inspiring me to usher in a little more fun into my blog and my life last year. You get full most of the cred for maintaining my bloggy sanity, buddy. Happy new year.
Ha, “Sandra made you nail art”! *snort* Death Note is a schlocky mess, but it looks and sounds great. It’s a fun, weird time at the (Netflix) movies.
Yes, that slide show is rather fance-ay; I think that’s a new feature, or at least it’s new to me. I’m not the most observant person when it comes to changes to WordPress. You may see a slideshow or two from our character meet-and-greets at Disney – seems the best way to get through endless photos of us standing beside some guy in a plush costume!
