Glam (Polish) Snowflakes

Glam Snowflakes 1

Here’s another one for the pretty ‘n’ glittery mani files, this time a semi-successful pastel snowflake design atop a holographic gradient using a Glam Polish lacquer that always reminds me of round, glittery Christmas ornaments.  Actually, save the base polish (lakur’s beautiful purple-grey Opal) and the bright turquoise creme on my index and pinkie fingers (A England’s Whispering Waves) I used three Glam Polish colours here, glittery, ornament-y You’re Entirely BONKERS, dusky pink Hey Mama and sea foam Ladies Choice.

I’m not sure how successful I was with the design on my two middle fingers – it looks more like coral or some sort of hanging flower than a snowflake.  I suppose that’s a function of the colours I chose here – there really aren’t that many pink and blue snowflakes out there.  And if there are…well, that probably can’t be good. 😉

Pretty Glittery

Yes to both!  Because sometimes between nail art seasons – here the just-passed Valentine’s Day and the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day – you need a bit of a glittery palette cleanser, here Essie’s glittery pink topcoat, A Cut Above, over Glam Polish’s Second Star to the Right, a shimmery blue, and Ladies Choice, a pale aqua blue.

Disney Girl Challenge: Scrump

Scrump Shade

Someone really needed to warn me that Lilo & Stitch was going to be the gut-wrenching, emotional sucker punch that it was.  I watched it this afternoon for the first time while completing these nails inspired by Lilo’s DIY dolly, Scrump, and by the three-quarter mark, I was sobbing so hard – big, heave-y, choked-out sobs – I couldn’t see well enough to apply my topcoat.  I’d easily slide Lilo & Stitch in behind Pixar’s Up in terms of making me lose my shit.  Up will always be number one.  I can’t even think about that movie without tearing up.  Actually, if I was emo enough to post a crying picture, you’d see I’m now doing precisely that.  Gah, Disney, sometimes you suck so hard!

Scrump doesn’t suck, though, so she gets the Disney Girl treatment.  Here I jazzed Lilo’s homemade doll up a bit with a holographic base coat of Glam Polish’s Ladies Choice.  In the movie the poor thing – at one point used as an alien-seeking dolly bomb – is a dingy turquoise-green, but I thought for all her hard work stopping the bad guys and saving the day, Disney styles, she should be adorned with extra rainbow twinkle. Now to go remove the last vestiges of my waterproof mascara, nearly every bit of which I sobbed straight off my face. Stupid Disney!

Hey Ladies!

Ladies Choice CollageGet fon-kay (and cue the cowbell!) Here’s another beautiful polish from Aussie indie maker Glam Polish, this time Ladies Choice, a shimmer and holo-infused stunner from their somewhat recently released Hairspray Collection. There’s quite a few of these shimmery, duochrome-type polishes on the market at the moment, and while the combination of lit-from-within purple shimmer and turquoise holo is not a new one (Mentality’s Gala, a matte jelly take on the trend, is a favourite), Glam Polish’s formulations are across-the-board fantastic, applying smoothly and evenly in two light coats. And just look at all that sparkly holo!Holo Hand

Let’s get up close and personal with Ladies Choice in a macro kind of way, both under the glow of megawatt artificial light and a natural light source. Lovely Ladies, indeed.Macro Ladies Choice Collage

And finally, just a little holographic nail porn to brighten up the end of your day. You are most welcome. 🙂Holo Bottle
