All Tangled Up

All Tangled Up

This manicure started out life as an allover floral design in celebration of the first glorious days of May (5 Days in May, perhaps?  That’s a Blue Rodeo joke, and I don’t think I could possibly be more Canadian than I am right now.)  Anyhow, after I had pulled out an assortment of polishes in the exact same hues as Rapunzel’s dress in the animated movie Tangled, I decided to go with that instead.  I always think the scene where Rapunzel and Flynn Rider go to the lantern festival in the kingdom is very May Day in its depiction, so this fits.

And because it’s my blog and I’ll talk about Disney if I want to, here’s a photo of Mr. Finger Candy posing in front of the Tangled bathrooms (yes, bathrooms, and they are the loveliest lavatories on property) during our Halloween 2017 trip.  Turns out both he AND Vladamir enjoy collecting ceramic unicorns, who knew?!

Disney Girl Challenge: Rapunzel (Also Again)

Rapunzel HandInside Out is getting all the Disney love this weekend (I know they’re sitting atop that large and glittering heap of Marvel movie money, but how badly do you suppose they want in on all that sweet, sweet Jurassic cash?) but I thought when it came to some nail art, I’d take another run at a slightly older Disney property, Tangled, and its heroine, Rapunzel. I love Tangled – there’s phenomenal songs, Zachary Levi Flynn Ryder is a big time cutie and Maximus sets the standard for wise-beyond-his-looks animal familiars. Mother Gothel’s a stone cold bitch, though, even if she does have the movie’s best song (when do the villains not have the best song?) The only thing that’s missing here is Rapunzel’s trusty frying pan, every princess-and-doesn’t-know-it’s greatest weapon!

Disney Girl Challenge: Rapunzel

Tangled was a such a great movie, one of the better Disney releases of the past few years. You have to love a girl who wields a frying pan like a weapon (something I have thankfully never had to press into action, but still, it’s nice to know debilitation is but a cast iron pan swing away; take note, thugs and ruffians!)
